Feature Question
Age to spay and neuter a dog

Question: How old should my dog be before I can have her spayed?

Answer: We used to recommend waiting until the dog was about 4 or 5 months old before having the procedure done. Today, with the help of new techniques and safer anesthetics, dogs and cats can be spayed and neutered at 8 weeks of age. The surgery is simple to perform on the young animals, is very safe, and the younger animals recover much more quickly from the surgery than the adults do. And, if that is not reason enough..it is cheaper to have them spayed and neutered when they are small than it is when they are full grown!
