Congratulations on your new puppy! Even if you've been through this before, one tends to forget exactly what it's like living with a puppy. The sight of a frolicking baby exploring a new world, the sweet smell of puppy breath, the warmth of the furry body sleeping in your lap. Then there is the prick of needle-like puppy teeth, stepping in a warm puddle in your bare feet, and standing outside at 3am, in the rain, waiting for puppy to do his business. Need help with housetraining? We bring you some great tips on making the task easier.

Q: What is Separation Anxiety?
A: This is the fear of being separated from your family or being left alone. The most common responses to this disorder are chewing on doors, carpet, blinds, window seals, walls or even having diarrhea. Dogs with this disorder become anxious and fear that this time you have left them forever. This fear drives them to escape the confines of your home & get to you. When bringing home a new dog or puppy be aware that he could already have this disorder or develop it 5 years down the road. The smartest & safest way to protect your dog & your home is by crating your dog when you are not at home. Dogs can do a lot of damage to your home and the one time cost of $150 for a crate is much better than a $1500 repair job to your home. If your pooch does have separation anxiety, there are things you can do to ease her anxiety. Crating is the simplest & easiest method of control, but it is wise to visit a vet. There is a reason behind the problem & medication and training may help to solve the problem indefinitely.
