Introduction to the nation's wildlife refuges
The Nation Wildlife Refuges provide habitat, and conservation for all of our Nation's wildlife. Through the refuges, conservation efforts come in the form of habitat reasearch, endangered species conservation and recovery, management and protection of valuable ecosystems. The wildlife Refuges are managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Though not all of the National Wildlife Refuges are open to the public, the refuges that are, provide unparrelled wildlife viewing for the visitor. Support of the National Wildlife Refuge system helps to conserve these lands and to assist in the protection of new areas in need.
